Hey Everybody. Sorry for not getting these up sooner. Here are the notes for the second day of the assembly program. As you can see, this day was more packed full of all sorts of strange reasonings and exaggerated points made to get everybody excited about this religion. I hope this is a help to some of you.
To help with my concentration I did a little expierment. I counted how many times I heard "the faithful slave" against how many times I heard mention of "Jesus". The results are at the end of my notes.
Circuit Assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses
Program 2005-2006
Theme: Clothes Yourselves With the New Personality -Col 3:10
SUNDAY MORNING
10:00 - Being made New Through Daily Text Reminders
Basically a discussion of that days text. Point was brought out that "We need to compare what we are to what we should be". The "word" for Christians is the preaching of the good news Matt 24:14,28:19-20.
This explanation is obviously a distortion of what the good news really is, which is Jesus. Instead the good news is tied up in some modern organization, how absurd. Quite the way to start off the day. It was then on to the Symposium:
10:15 Cultivating the Tongue of the Wise Ones
Part 1: How Jehovah Views the Use of the Tongue
We are accountable to God for the things we say and do. We have learned the "pure language", a new vocabulary.
Part 2: Wholesome Speech Among Outsiders
How do we deal with people on "the outside"? What does our speech reflect. Col 4:5-6
Part 3: Keep Building One Another Up
Bible shapes our personality. Eph 4:25 Many people in "the world" are liers, lets not be like them.
Could these general labels of "the world" being liers any more retarded?
Part 4: Speak About Jehovah's Glory and Kingship
Everything pales in comparison to Jehovah and his glory. Ps 145:1 Where is Satan leading his people? Jehovahs organization is accomplishing amazing things. Spiritual Nation is to rue over the earth. Here's a great quote "Bethel pales in comparison to Gods heavenly Organization". Huh....
Sing a song, then on to...
11:10 Watchtower Summary
I heard this three times!!!
We are part of a "Multi Lingual Bible Educational Work"
Read Daniel 7:14, The Watchtower magazine IN YOUR HANDS is in fulfillment of this prophecy. Matthew 28:19 HAS BEEN FULLFILLED
11:40 - Giving Attention to the Needs of the Circuit
Beware of dangerous association. Three problems have been noticed.
1. Alcohol usage. Big parties where people are over indulging.
2. Music and Dancing. People are getting out of hand with thiner conduct as regards these things. Satan will use this to carry us off as his pray. Music has power!
3. Our Dress. We should stand out in a world that continues to lower its standards. Gen chapter 3 tells us of the first fashion (I hate this kind of talk!). Jehovah had a real interest in what people wear. Just like the Israelites we have dedicated our lives to god. Follow the principles. Are we wearing our badges after the convention??? Declare "I AM ON OF JEHOVAHS WITNESSES!"
Afternoon
Public Address: Are You Conquering the Wicked One?
Just a side point, does anybody from the public attend this stuff, or even know about it? Gosh!
1 John 5:19, Rom 12:12, 1 Peter 5:8,9. Satan knows he can't change the mind of Jehovahs people as a whole. Only a minority of people have served Jehovah throughout history. The world continues to lower its standards. We should not base our standards on theirs. Satan tries to "corrupt" our thinking. 3 ways we can guard against this:
1.Be strong spiritually
2.Read and Study the Bible
3.Brotherly Love
4.Avoid apostates
5.Prayer
Would we ever divorce our mate because somebody else wronged us? Of course not! Then why would we stop coming to meetings and "divorce" ourselves from Jehovah because somebody wronged us at the kingdom hall.
At the end of the talk the brother went into a little rant about apostates. Of course the reasoning was totally flawed and only used as a scare tactic. I sounded like this:
Do we want to follow those who have left the truth? Do they have something better? Better than Gods organization and his channel. Jehovah says they are no longer apart of us. If they want to go out and publish book, let them. But we are no part of them, we will avoid them.
The part on apostates was great. It was like hearing a politician. Five minutes of talk and not one logical argument.
2:35 - Keep yourself Without spot from the world
We interact with all kinds of people who are not Christians. Never loose sight of the danger of intimate relationships with worldly people. We are happily removed from them (What?). These ones are not spiritual. Gods Organization has congregations of good people. Some are careless in the congregation. What did paul say? Keep yourself without spot. Watch your association in the congregation as well. Some spots can't be seen with the naked eye "like a spot on the lung". We want to live without spot. We welcome the diagnosis. Avoid worldly thinking. Things that spot us
1.Material Things.
2.Pride
3.Entertainment. Satan has made unclean things mainstream.
How many of us can keep up with the faithful slave? (umm, what about Christ?) What is this doing to us spiritually? It's a privilege to be set apart. We don't want filth to enter Gods congregation.
3:05 - Daily Renewing the Man we are inside
2Cor 7, Congregation problems can get the best of us. They will be fixed in time. Paul was happy for the Corinthians and their ability to fix their problems. We don't stop the ministry because of congregation problems. Keep looking for sheep. Fulfill Bible prophecy. Daily renew the spiritual person we are inside. "Once saved always saved" not spiritual. Keep testing if you are in the faith. 40,000 - 50,000 disfellowshipped every year. Less will be DF'ed if we continue to renew who we are inside. Some think it's just by "big moments of faith" that we will prove ourselves to God. No way. It's who we are every day. It's all worshiping Jehovah (but I guess it's not all sacred service?).
One anointed brother was out of the truth for three years. Why? He said "I quit studying". He started to study the Bible again and came back. We feed ourselves and are also fed by the organization. Use the NWT cross references. Personal Bible Study.
I noticed that all of their suggestions on Bible study during this convention were actually very poor suggestions in understanding the Bible. Instead of teaching the importance of understanding things like the reasons for a particular book being written, analysis of the content and the argumentation put forth by the writer more general and bland things are encouraged. "Picture yourself in the story" or "use the reference bible". They teach these people to remain spiritually weak. It's amazing.
That's the end of the ASSembly. It actually kept my attention more than usual, mainly because I knew my notes where going on the board, and I wanted them complete. I can't believe what you here when you REALLY pay attention to what is being said.
FINAL POINT
Here is numbers on how many times "faithful slave" was said against the number of times "Jesus" Was said
Faithful Slave: 17
Jesus: 25
These numbers don't prove anything except maybe this, the Watchtower Society simply doesn't stress the importance of Jesus enough. You would thing a Christian organization would simply say the word Jesus more than 25 time in a course of an entire day. Oh well
Hope you all have enjoyed my post.

Circuit Overseer Celebrities?
by Delboy222 ini am a active jw, but one question i would like to know is why do these 'men' get treated as superstar celebrities when they attend the congregation?.
for as long as i can remember, there seems to be a 'buzz of excitement' when it is announced that he and his wife are due to visit.
what is so special about them?.
-
drew sagan
People get excited because they like to look to men as their leaders instead of God.
These men have a deep conviction that the Watchtower Society is the truth. Their conviction is much more solid than those in the congregations. I've noticed the same additude displayed by them as you have described, but I feel that it is a display of how confident they are in the organization.
With the circut assembly last week I made a special effort to watch these men, trying to see what makes them tick. Their loyalty to organization and deep conviction in the Watchtower seems to make them carry on more than your average witness. -

Pre Armageddon Preparation.
by Clam inare there jws who prepare for the tribulations they assume are around the corner?
when i visted the us once in 1999 i met a few guys who were expecting a global meltdown due to the millenium bug.. as a consequence they had generators, guns, ammo, tins of food, bottled water, fuel, all kinds of stuff to help them through a civil disorder situation.
does anyone know or remember any jws who have prepared like this?

Never heard any details from anybody about this. I do think that the mindset is there that some probably have a "secret" hiding place mapped out in their head. I know I thought about it before. What sad times those where.

This just occurred to me;
by 2112 inwe all know that the nwt is a truly lousy version if the bible.
when they started using the bible why did they not add their own writings.
i know they use the wt and other books but i mean, in the lines like the mormans did.

The big thing with the society is degree. Many of the members feel that what the WT has done wrong is so tiny as compared to all the "false doctrines" other christians hold.
If it is a matter of degree like is presented in the magazines, then my logic tells me that organizations are not what god exclusivly follows. Instead it's the motivation and intentions of the individual that he monitors, not any kind of organizational approval. -

They will tell you it's wrong, but I doubt we will see it in the publications any time soon. They really arn't about starting that kind of troubble, the numbers are down enough allready.

Bible Doctrines or Commands of Men
by MerryMagdalene ini was thinking of creating a research resource list based on this bit from the "religion" section of the wts book reasoning from the scriptures:are all religions acceptable to god?
mark 7:6,7: "he [jesus] said to them [the jewish pharisees and scribes]: 'isaiah aptly prophesied about you hypocrites, as it is written, "this people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are removed from me.
it is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach as doctrines commands of men.

"*Absolute obedience to the Governing Body of the WTS who represent the 144,000-member Faithful & Discrete Slave "class" used by Jesus to feed his modern day sheep, whether they be right or wrong"
This is where I just coulnd't take it anymore. This is clearly a man made teaching, and not something that has originated with God. It's sad that just as many of us have in the past, people continue to gloss over what they really believe because of emotional attachment to their system of worship. -

JW Literature in Second Hand Stores
by Nosferatu inwhat kinds of jw literature do you see in the second hand stores?
i often come across copies of the nwt.
recently, i saw a live forever book.

I saw a "Studies in the Scriptures" set in a small bookstore in my area. I've also seen tons of the publications at a yearly book sale put on by the local community. Eveybody donates books and they sell them for pennies. It is almost garunteed that you will find a bunch of JW books there each year. The funny thing is they allways look just as new as the day they where printed.

What is 'NIV' ?
by caryl innew to the site.
have been away from the jw's since 1985. they have a new bible or what?
i remember the nwt not niv.
-
drew sagan
The NIV is a good translation. It was one of the first translations I started reading when I started to question the org. There can never be a translation without bias, and of course the NIV can suffer from some of the same problems. In the end though, it is a good translation that's adventageous to have in your library.

Help me with prayer please
by TheListener infor those of you who still pray, regularly or not.
i would ask some advice.. as a dub when i would pray at meetings or for my family i had no problem finding many things to discuss with god.
you know the usual things like my family, kh, gb, meetings, personal study, the friends around the world being persecuted, new system, meeting attendance again, field service, etc.. now that i'm fading i will not pray about the majority of those things any longer.
-
drew sagan
Everybody has made some good points. I especially like what dave said.
Personally I have allways enjoyed reading the prayers of others as recorded in the Bible. THe deep feeling and motivation coming from men of faith (and lack of faith) can be a great guide to what prayer has been for people of the past and what it can be for you.
